Irvine Ranch Wildlands and Parks is Forever Dedicated to Orange County Land Preservation

The Irvine Ranch wildlands and parks - more than 50,000 acres of permanently protected open space in the heart of Orange County, California - was created over the last 100 years through conservation initiatives of The Irvine Company, community organizations and municipalities.

This region has been identified as an area of ecological "hot spots" -an area with large concentrations of species found nowhere else. This area is home to hundreds of species of animals such as mountain lions, raptors and several species of reptile, birds and amphibians. There are also many variations of plant life from the amazing Tecate cypress to the California sycamore.

One of our primary goals is to keep the beautiful Orange County land preservation habitat untouched and in its natural state for the various species and wildlife. However, to allow the public to enjoy this wonderful environment, trails and guides have been provided to show the wonders of this vast region while assuring that the natural habitat remains intact.

One way the Irvine Ranch Conservancy has been able to protect the land is to conduct detailed research studies of the native plants and wildlife. Due to the research findings, invasive weeds have been removed from the preservation in order to allow the native and beneficial plants to flourish. There are numerous enhancements like this being worked on every day thanks to the many volunteers that assist in the preservation of this great region.
