We’ve Changed Our Name

Welcome to The Irvine Ranch wildlands and parks, formerly the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Web site. Our new name reflects a broader and closer collaboration with all of the partners and owners who protect and steward the land. Together we will provide even more valuable information and opportunities for you to experience the wonder and diversity of permanently protected open space on the historic Irvine Ranch. In addition, the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust has changed its name to the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. For more information on the name change, click here.

On this Web site you can find useful information and schedules about all of the programs, events, hikes and tours on more than 50,000 acres of open space in the heart of Orange County, California. You can learn about the unique wildlife and plants that live here, and even get trail maps. Information is supplied by the partners who together own and manage the wildlands and parks, including the City of Irvine; the County of Orange, Harbors, Beaches and Parks; California State Parks , The Irvine Company, and many non-profit organizations.

The wildlands and parks on The Irvine Ranch offer a rich menu of recreational opportunities, from hiking and horseback riding to bird-watching and picnicking. All of the landowners and managers work together to ensure that their activities are done in full consideration of resources and recreational needs.

Let’s Go Outside

A large portion of this land - approximately 37,000 acres - was designated as a National Natural Landmark (NNL) by the U.S. Department of Interior, recognizing the land as a nationally significant natural area. The care of this great resource is a collaborative effort and a new program will be highlighted on this Web site to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of the significance and responsibility of being named a NNL.
