This Web site is managed by The Irvine Ranch Conservancy. It is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization created to protect the Natural Landmarks on The Irvine Ranch and enhance the public’s connection to them, while helping partners and owners with all aspects of stewardship.

As vast as it is beautiful, the Natural Landmarks comprise more than half of the historic 93,000-acre Irvine Ranch. Nearly 40,000 acres of open space on the land have been designated a Natural Landmark by both the State of California and the U.S. Department of Interior. This honor recognizes the exceptional value of these lands to California and the entire nation. The open space of the Natural Landmarks is part of the 50,000 acres of wildlands and parks preserved on The Irvine Ranch. The landscape is home to hundreds of species of native plants and animals, and features terrain including rugged mountains, rolling grasslands, shady oak woodlands, and sandy beaches.

On this Web site you can find useful information and schedules about all of the programs, events, hikes and tours on more than 50,000 acres of open space in the heart of Orange County, California. You can learn about the unique wildlife and plants that exist here, and even get trail maps. Information is supplied by the partners who together own and manage the Natural Landmarks, including the City of Irvine, OC Parks, California State Parks, The Irvine Company, and many non-profit organizations.

The Natural Landmarks offer a rich menu of recreational opportunities, from hiking and horseback riding to bird-watching and picnicking. All of the landowners and managers work together to ensure that their activities are done in full consideration of resources and recreational needs.
